The JV Green baseball team pulled off a thrilling comeback win Friday night, beating Perrysburg 5-4. The Eagles were trailing 4-1 heading into the top of the 7th but would plate 4 runs securing the lead 5-4. The Yellow Jackets threatened in the bottom of the 7th with a runner on 2nd base, but with two outs, Ross Cody made a highlight-reel play at second base to seal the victory for the Eagles.
Blake Mummert got the start on the mound for Clay and was dominant, striking out 10 batters over 5 innings while allowing just 3 hits and 3 runs (1 earned). Garren Cavitt came in relief for Mummert allowing 1 run on 2 hits with 3 strikeouts.
Easton Schnabel led the Clay offense, going a perfect 3-3 at the plate with 2 doubles. Ross Cody delivered the game-winning RBI in the 7th inning and finished 2-3 on the night. Tommy Ray (1-3, RBI), Garren Cavitt (1-3, R), and Madden Penix (1-4, 2RBI) also contributed hits for Clay.
With the victory, Clay extends its winning streak to 6 games and improves to 12-3 on the season. They are back at it on Tuesday when they travel to St. Francis, first pitch 5pm.

The Clay High School JV Gold Baseball team (15-4, 10-2 N.L.L.) won in a big way on Wednesday night beating the visiting Springfield Blue Devils by a score of 22-1. The game would be run-ruled shortened after the Eagles would put up 10 in the second and 8 in the third. The boys also set the season JV Gold record for HBP's with 47 (previous record 41) and still have 8 games to play.
On the hill, Colson Alm (2.26 ERA) would pick up his first win of the season going 3 strong innings only allowing 1 hit and fanning 6 batters. Jaxson Krueger would close out the game not allowing a hit while striking out 2 hitters. Opponents are now hitting .174 off of Clay pitching.
7 different players would have a hit on the night for the Eagles. Players with Multiple hits included: Gavin Monto (.379) who was 2-4 with 2 runs and 2 RBI's. Andrew Enck went 2-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's and a HBP. Colson Alm (.313) was 2-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's and a BB.
With the win the boys are now 2 and a half games up on Southview heading into next weeks huge matchup. Clay's next game will be on Tuesday at home against Southview. This home & home battle will be for the Division Title. Please come out and show your support for the young men! Game time is set for 5 pm.
The JV Green baseball team (11-3) picked up their 5th win in a row Wednesday night beating Whitmer 11-6. The Eagles controlled the game for the majority of the night before Whitmer cut the lead to 2 in the top of the 6th. Clay would respond in the bottom half plating 3 runs of their own to secure the win. Blake Mummert (2-3, 3RBI, R, 2B) and Easton Schnabel (2-3, R, 2RBI) led Clay offensively. Jake Hernandez (1-4,R, RBI), Madden Penix (1-3, R, RBI), Garren Cavitt (1-2, 3R, 2B), and Ross Cody (1-3, 2R) all collected hits respectively. Luke Thatcher earned the win going a complete game, allowing 6 runs (1 earned) on 8 hits. Thatcher struck out 8 Panther batters and walked only 1. Clay travels to Perrysburg on Friday to take on the Yellow Jackets. First pitch is at 5pm.

Varsity baseball took game one of the week 11-0 at home against Springfield yesterday. The Eagles were paced by Bryce Besgrove who threw all 5 innings striking out 11, walking 2, and not allowing a hit. Offensively the Eagles were led by Alex Goetz 2-3 (2 RS, 3B, BB). Also picking up hits were Landon Echelberry 1-2 (2 RS, RBI, BB, SACF, and a SB), Bryce Besgrove 1-2 (2 RS, 2B, BB, and SB), Darin Fussell 1-3 (2 RS, 2 RBI, SB), Brayden Toneff 1-2 (RS, RBI, BB), Chase Vriezelaar 1-3 (RS, 3 RBI, 2B, 2 SB), and Aiden Berryman 1-2 (RBI, BB). This puts the Eagles record at 14-4 (10-1 NLL). The Eagles will be back in action tomorrow (5/6/26) @ Springfield starting at 5:00 pm.

The Clay High School JV Gold baseball team (14-4, 9-2 N.L.L.) won big on the road Monday night against Springfield by a score of 20-3. The bats came out of fire as The Eagles would pound out 17 hits (9 different players) on their way to a 5 inning run rule shortened game.
Clay's Maddox Byers (2.31 ERA) would pick up his 2nd win of the season throwing 4 innings. Byers would strike out 5 hitters in the process. Bryce Ostrander (0.00 ERA) would come in to close out the game pitching the last half inning.
Players with multiple hits for the Eagles included: Leyton Toneff (.464) who was 4-4, Jaxson Krueger (.304) went 3-4, Keenan Barber (.417) was 2-3, Bryce Ostrander (.368) who was 2-4 and Russ Myers went 2-4.
Clay remains 2 games up on Southview with their win and will now play on Ousky Wednesday, against Springfield starting at 5 pm.

The Clay high School JV Gold Baseball team (13-4, 8-2 N.L.L.) would lose a tough road battle to Findlay on Friday night by a score of 3-2. The Eagles just could not get the bats or clutch hits when the time mattered the most.
Max Sutton (1.00 ERA) would pitch brilliantly going to the full 6 innings not allowing an earned run in the process. Sutton would also punch out 5 on the night.
Clay just couldn't string together hits on this cold, windy and rainy night only getting 7 in total. Players with multiple hits included: Keenan Barber (.400) who would go 2-2 with a RBI, sac fly and a SB. Maddox Byers (.364) was 2-3.
The Eagles now hold a 2 game lead over Southview heading into tonight matchup with Springfield. The game time is set for 5 pm in Holland.

The JV Green baseball team earned its second victory of the season over St. John’s on Friday night, beating the Titans 4–2 and improving its record to 10–3.
The game was tied at 2 heading into the bottom of the 6th when Easton Schnabel delivered a clutch single up the middle, scoring Ross Cody from 2nd to give the Eagles a 3–2 lead. Blake Mummert followed with a double to right field, bringing Schnabel home and adding an insurance run.
Offensively, Ross Cody led the Eagles with a 2-2 day at the plate. Madden Penix (1-3, R), Easton Schnabel (1-2, R, 2 RBI), and Blake Mummert (1-3, 2B, RBI) also contributed hits. As a team, Clay continues to swing the bats well and is currently hitting .318 on the season.
Luke Thatcher earned the win with a complete-game performance on the mound, allowing just 2 runs on 6 hits while striking out 3.
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday as they host Whitmer, with first pitch scheduled for 5pm.
