The varsity softball team enjoyed a big league win over Perrysburg by a score of 4-3 on Teacher Appreciation Night. Our 5 seniors recognized the following:

The Eagles were down 3-0 going into the bottom of the 3rd inning when Lily Cordell led off with a solo home run to left. Ellie Haynes and Maddie Franke followed that with 2 singles. Ellie scored on a sacrifice fly by Grace Montgomery. Maddie scored to tie the game on a single by Jenna Swartz. In the bottom of the 4th, Lily led off with a single and scored the go-ahead run when Ellie hit a double to right. That was enough offensive production for Emily Cordell to record the complete game win. She gave up 4 hits with 4 strikeouts and 3 free passes. The varsity softball team is 15 and 3 overall, 9 and 1 in the NLL, and ranked 4th in the State.

The varsity softball game vs Springfield that was scheduled for Friday, May 1 has been rescheduled to Tuesday, May 5 at the Oregon Rec at 7:00 pm.

The varsity softball team increased their record to 14-3 (8-1 NLL) with a 16-6 victory over Napoleon last night. Zoi Zahradnik recorded the win without allowing a run. She gave up only 1 hit and recorded 3 strikeouts in 4 innings of work. Vanessa Wilk led the team offensively by going 3 for 4 with 3 RBI. Lily Cordell also recorded 3 hits with 2 doubles and 3 RBI. Emily Cordell recorded 4 RBI on a single and a double. Join the Eagles at the Oregon Rec on Friday for a 5pm game with Springfield.

The varsity softball team claimed a 4 to 3 win over Genoa. The Eagles were led by Ellie Haynes who went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Zoi Zahradnik went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Grace Montgomery had a clutch hit to tie the game at 3 apiece. Lily Cordell recorded the go ahead RBI when she hit a sacrifice fly to deep center field to score Rylee Gregory. Jenna Swartz pitched the complete game recording 9 punch outs with only 2 walks. The Eagles will face NLL opponent Napoleon at the Oregon Rec at 5pm today.
The varsity softball team took down #1 State ranked Anthony Wayne by a score of 4-2. Ellie Haynes tied the game at 1 all in the 4th inning with a solo home run that bounced off the scoreboard. In the 5th inning Ellie came to the plate again with bases loaded and 2 outs. She proceeded to hit a line drive single plating 2 Eagle runners. In the 6th inning, Grace Montgomery hit a lead-off single. Brylee VanWormer came in to pinch run and scored on a single by Jenna Swartz. Clay then held the Generals scoreless in the last 2 innings to preserve the victory for Emily Cordell. Emily threw the complete game giving up 2 runs on 4 hits with 9 strikeouts. The Eagles will host Genoa today at 5pm.

These athletes have shown tremendous dedication, perseverance, and passion for the game of softball, and we couldn’t be more proud of all they’ve accomplished. Their hard work has paid off, and this is just the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

There were 7 total home runs in the back-and-forth battle between the varsity softball team and Defiance on Saturday. The Eagles claimed 4 of the long balls and edged out the Bulldogs with a 7-6 victory. Jenna Swartz and Zoi Zahradnik shared the pitching duties with Jenna recording the win. The Eagles were led by Maddie Franke who went 3 for 3 with 2 home runs, a double, and 4 RBI. Also recording dingers were Ellie Haynes and Jenna Swartz. The game was played in tribute to Brian Jones, father of 2025 graduate Lindsey Jones, who passed unexpectedly last month.

The varsity softball team increased their league record to 6 and 1 today with a 10-7 win over Southview. Zoi Zahradnik recorded the win in the circle giving up 1 run on 6 hits with 6 strikeouts. Lily Cordell led things off with a triple on the first pitch of the game. The Eagles then recorded 4 consecutive singles to take a 3 to nothing lead in the top of the first. Clay scored a 4th run in the 3rd inning on a walk, followed by a single, then a double by Jenna Swartz. Southview scored 6 in the bottom of the 3rd for a short-lived lead. The Eagles bounced back in the 4th by capitalizing on 2 Cougar errors and some timely hitting including a 2-run home run by Zoi Zahradnik. The Eagles added 2 more runs in the 6th inning on back-to-back solo bombs by Ellie Haynes and Maddie Franke. The Eagles are 10-3 overall and will face Defiance Saturday morning at 11am.
