The varsity baseball team was well represented at yesterday's NLL Cardinal All-League voting:

The varsity baseball team captured its second consecutive varsity title with a 1-0 win over St. Francis at Carter Park this past Thursday. On the mound Bryce Besgrove was dominant on the mound throwing a no hitter (3rd of the season). Bryce Struck out 5 Knight hitters on the day. He improves to 8-0 on the season. At the played the Eagles did just enough. Picking up a hit a piece was; Landon Echelberry 1-4, Bryce Besgrove 1-4, Darin Fussell 1-3, Brayden Toneff 1-3, and Aiden Berryman 1-3 (GW RBI). The Eagles will be back in non-conference play today (6/1) @ Perrysburg starting at 3:30. In Regional play the Eagles will play Sunbury Big Walnut at 2 pm on 6/3/26 in Grove City. This puts the Eagles record at 21-7.

The varsity baseball team advanced in the state tournament by beating St. John's 1-0 yesterday in the the District Semi-Final. On the mound Landon Echelberry went all 7 to pick up the win. Landon struck out 8 Titan hitters, walked 1 and allowed only 1 hit. Offensively the Eagles were led by Landon Echelberry 1-3 (2B, RBI) and Chase Vriezelaar 1-1 (2B, SAC, HBP). This puts the varsities record at 20-7. The Eagles will play in the District Final against St. Francis tomorrow (5/28) @ 5 pm at Carter Park in BG.

The varsity baseball team dropped a non-conference game on the road at Perkins Thursday. On the mound 3 pitchers combined to throw the 6 innings. Landon Echelberry threw the first 3 allowing 1 ER, and striking out 5. Jayce Derr threw the next 2 2/3 striking out 3, and Darin Fussell came in to record the last out. Leading the offense was Bryce Besgrove 3-4 (RS, 2 RBI, 3B, SB), Landon Echelberry 2-3 (RS, RBI, BB), and Chase Vriezelaar 2-4. Also picking up hits was Darin Fussell 1-3 (RBI), and Aiden Berryman 1-3 (RS). The Eagles will be back in action in State Tournament play today 5/26/26 at Carter Park in BG starting at 4:30 against St. John's.

The varsity baseball team won a sectional title last Wednesday night 10-0 over Lima Senior. On the mound Bryce Besgrove threw all 6 innings striking out 13 Spartans, and allowing only 1 hit. Leading the offense was Alex Goetz 2-3 (RS, RBI, HBP, SB), and Bryce Besgrove 2-2 (RS, BB, HBP, 3B, SB). Also picking up hits was Landon Echelberry 1-3 (RS, 3 RBI, BB, HR, SB), Darin Fussell 1-4 (2 RS, RBI, 3B), Brayden Toneff 1-3 (RS, RBI, HBP), Brannan Vargas 1-4 (RS, RBI), Chase Vriezelaar 1-2 (RS, 2 BB, SB), and Carter Walendzak 1-3 (RS). This puts the Eagles record at 19-6.

The Clay High School JV Gold baseball team (20-5, 12-3 N.L.L.) won their 20th game of the year on Friday Night in a non league matchup versus Northview by a score of 15-0. In their last game of the year, the Eagles would score 15 runs in the first 4 innings on the way to a run ruled shortened game. The boys accomplished all 3 of their season goals after this game (200th career win, N.L.L. Cardinal Division Champs and 20 wins) and it would conclude a magical season!
Max Sutton (1.70 ERA) would overpower the Wildcats hitters on his way to his 5th win on the season. Sutton would strikeout 4 hitters in his 3 innings of work.
At the dish, Clay would only have 7 hits on the night and Kyle O'Neill (.405) would be the only player with multiple hits going 2-3 with 2 runs, 2 RBI's and a HBP.
I would like to congratulate all of the players that were a part of the team this year, their "buy-in", grit and determination will be something to look back on as they were the type of team a coach could only dream about. Thank you all for the memories this year brought, it is something that can never be taken away!
Amazing season Fellas!!!!!!!
The JV Green baseball team carried a 4-1 lead into the 6th inning Thursday night, but Anthony Wayne rallied with 2 runs in the 6th and 7th innings to defeat the Eagles 5-4. The game marked the final contest of an outstanding season for the Eagles, who finished with an impressive 17-5 overall record. As a team, the Eagles posted a batting average above .300 while compiling a stellar 2.71 team ERA. Clay swept each of the following opponents twice during the season: St. John’s, St. Francis, Perrysburg, Maumee, Southview, and Northview. Three of the team’s five losses came by a combined total of just 5 runs, including two heartbreaking 1 run losses. The season was filled with memorable moments, a few include Bryce Ostrander’s walk-off home run against St. Francis in the bottom of the 9th inning, Blake Mummert’s one-hit complete game shutout against Bedford, Ross Cody’s game-ending highlight-reel defensive play against Perrysburg, and Tommy Ray’s complete game no-hitter against Southview. We would like to thank our families and friends for their unwavering support throughout the season.
Tommy Ray threw a complete game no hitter on Wednesday night to lead the Eagles to a 9-0 victory over Southview. Tommy needed just 77 pitches to complete the gem, striking out 4 Cougar hitters. The Eagles’ defense was outstanding behind him, making plays all game. At the plate the Eagles scattered 11 hits, led by Tommy Ray, who went 3-4 with 2 runs score and an RBI. Jake Hernandez (1-4,R), Madden Penix (1-4, 2B, R, 2 RBI), Ross Cody (1-4, RBI), Brody Katschke (1-3, R), Danny Harris (1-2, 2B, R), Luke Thatcher (1-1, 2B, R), Billy Plomaritis (1-4, R), and Blake Mummert (1-3, R) all collected hits in the win. This victory improves their record to 17-4 on the season. The Eagles will finish up their season tonight as they travel to Anthony Wayne, first pitch is at 5pm.
