The Clay High School JV Gold baseball team (2-1, 0-0 NLL) ran into a buzzsaw Monday night as the 16-0 Riverdale Warriors would beat the Eagles 10-0. Clay would end up leaving 8 runners on base and walking 5 hitters in a tough matchup. The boys did manage to get 7 hits on the night as Gavin Monto (.500) and Kyle O'Neill (.500) would both go 2-3.
The Eagles will now play Maumee at Home on Thursday starting at 5 pm.

The Clay High School JV Gold Baseball team (2-0, 0-0 NLL) won their 2nd straight in Tennessee beating a 7-2 Battle Creek team by the score of 8-4 on Saturday. The Eagles would get down 4-1 early but explode for 6 runs in the 6th inning behind a Russ Myers single that would plate 2 runs.
On the Hill Gavin Monto would pick up his first win on the year throwing a strong 6 innings, Monto would scatter 5 hits and punch out 3 in his season debut. Keenan Barber would come in and overwhelm Battle creek as he would strike out the side in his inning of work.
The Eagles would score 8 runs on 8 hits. Players with Multiple hits included: Monto (2-4 with 2 runs, RBI, 2 steals and a BB) & Max Sutton ( 2-2 with 2 walks, HBP, and a RBI).

The Clay High School JV Gold baseball team (1-0, 0-0 NLL) opened up their season against a 7-6 Collierville Dragon squad Friday in Tennessee and would come out with a 4-1 victory.
The story of the day would be the pitching for the Eagles. Max Sutton (1.75 ERA) would get the opening day nod on the mound and going 4 dominant innings, Sutt only allowed 2 hits while punching out 6 Drangon Hitters. Freshman Kyle O'Neill (0.00 ERA) would pick up the Win as he came in and shut the door on Collierville. O'Neill would throw 3 scoreless innings allowing 2 hits as well while striking out 3.
Clay would get down early but the bats came alive in the 6th inning as Kyle O'Neill would deliver as with his bat also. The Freshman would have a bases clearing double the that would stretch the lead to 4-1. 6 players would have hits for the Eagles on the night.

The varsity baseball team held a 1-0 lead over a tough Riverdale Warrior team heading into the 5th, but could not hold over the final two frames losing 10-1. On the moundGeorge Edwards started and held down the Warrior offense giving up only 2 hits. Max Morrison and Jayce Derr threw the final two innings for the Eagles. Offensively the Eagles were led by Darin Fussell 2-3 (2B, RS), and Brayden Toneff 2-3 (RBI, 2 SB). Also picking up hits was Alex Goetz 1-3, Bryce Besgrove 1-3, and Jayce Derr 1-2 (BB). This puts the Eagles record at 2-2. They will be back in action Thursday 4/2 @ Maumee starting at 5 pm.
The JV Green baseball team traveled to Maumee on Monday evening to being its 2026 season, and the Eagles wasted no time getting started. Clay jumped on the Panthers early in the first inning. Brody Katschke ripped a two run double to left field, and after a walk, Blake Mummert launched a home run over the right field fence, his first of the season, to give the Eagles a 5-0 lead. Clay's offense continued to produce adding 7 more runs throughout the next 4 innings to secure a 12-2 win in 5 innings.
The Eagles collected 8 hits in the win, led by Jake Hernandez (2-3, 2B, 2R, 3SB), Brody Katschke (2-3, 2B, 3R), Bryce Ostrander (1-3, 2B, 3RBI), Blake Mummert (1-4, HR, 3RBI), Ross Cody (1-3, RBI), and Danny Harris (1-2, R).
Danny Harris got the start for Clay on the mound going 3 innings giving up 1 hit and striking out 4. Quinn Swiderski came in relief, pitching the final 2 innings and allowing 2 runs on 1 hit.
The Eagles are back in action tonight as they travel to Perrysburg to take on the Yellow Jackets. First pitch is at 5pm.

Congratulations to senior OF/C Alex Goetz on breaking Clay High School Baseball's career hit by pitch record! The previous record was held by Don Walendzak at 12 during the 1987-1988 season. Three games into his senior season Alex has been hit 3 times, this puts his current HBP total at 14.

The varsity baseball team picked up win 2 on the season against Providence Christian Academy earning a split on the day 5-4. Darin Fussell picked up his first win on the season going 4 innings striking out 3 and allowing only 2 earned runs. Jayce Derr came in relief a threw 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief striking out 4. George Edwards came in to close the deal getting the final 2 outs of the ball game. Leading the offense with multiple hits was Bryce Besgrove 2-3 (2 RS, 1 RBI, 2B, BB, and SB), and Landon Echelberry 2-4 RS. Also picking up hits was Brayden Toneff 1-3 (RBI and SB), and Max Morrison 1-3. This puts the Eagles record at 2-1. They will conclude their Tennessee trip against Riverdale High School at 5:30 pm tomorrow.

The varsity baseball team hung in with back-to-back state final four qualifier Collierville High School (TN) before running out of steam and falling 9-0. On the mound Landon Echelberry went 4 innings striking out 10 and walking just two Dragon hitters. Also pitching was George Edwards, Brayden Toneff, and Aiden Berryman. The Eagles offense struggled to get going picking up only 2 hits. Brayden Toneff and Aiden Berryman picked up the two hits for the Eagles. They will be back in action in 30 min against Providence Christian Academy.
