Clay High School Athletics supports the ability of student-athletes to explore Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities in accordance with Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) bylaws and applicable laws and regulations.
Our athletic department believes that education, communication, and proactive guidance are essential in helping student-athletes and families navigate NIL opportunities responsibly while protecting athletic eligibility.
The role of Clay High School Athletics is to:
- Educate student-athletes and families on NIL guidelines and expectations
- Provide general guidance regarding OHSAA bylaws and school policies
- Encourage proactive disclosure and communication
- Help families identify potential eligibility concerns before agreements are finalized
However, it is important to understand that Oregon City Schools and Clay High School Athletics do not:
- Broker NIL agreements
- Arrange NIL opportunities
- Facilitate business partnerships
- Negotiate compensation
- Connect student-athletes with businesses or collectives
- Endorse specific companies, organizations, or NIL opportunities
Additionally, no school employee, coach, booster organization, or representative of Clay High School Athletics is permitted to directly participate in securing or facilitating NIL agreements on behalf of student-athletes.
Student-athletes and families remain fully responsible for all NIL agreements and are encouraged to seek independent legal, financial, and tax guidance when appropriate.
Clay High School Athletics remains committed to supporting student-athletes through education, transparency, and compliance-focused guidance as NIL opportunities continue to evolve.
